The Iowa Firefighters Association is a member of the National Volunteer Fire Council. The NVFC is a non-profit membership association representing the interests of the volunteer fire, EMS and rescue services. The NVFC serves the emergency services through legislative initiatives; vital resources such as a Cost Savings Calculator and Retention and Recruitment Guide; important programs including the Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program, Fire Corps, and the National Junior Firefighter Program, and more.

The NVFC is raising awareness for the National Fire Services Member Assistance Program, which is a free hotline that any fire service member or their families can call if they need immediate help with issues such as stress, depression, substance abuse, PTSD, or anything affecting their work or personal life.
