Hall of Flame
Volunteers needed for the Hall of Flame
In case you haven't heard yet the Hall of Flame at the Iowa State Fair is undergoing a major renovation this year. The entire display is being made to look like the inside of a fire station.
The display will have:
- a new stop, drop and roll area
- a small house for crawl low in smoke simulations
- 9-1-1 simulations
- Sparky the Dog is being brought out of retirement
- a scaled down fire truck (pick up size) where kids can turn on lights and sirens and use the radio
- a working fire alarm system
- firemen's gear on display
- fire extinguishers
- and a wall will be dedicated to the Firefighters Memorial in Coralville.
It will have a whole new look and a lot of good teaching tools.
Keep checking back for more photos as the progress continues on the building of the props. Make it a point to visit the fair this year, August 10 - 20, and see the Hall of Flame for yourself.
If you, your department, county association, business or organization wish to donate to the renovations of the Hall of Flame you can send donations to Iowa Firemen's Association, Hall of Flame, PO Box 67, Humboldt, IA 50548.
